Banker's Brain Child is Taxpayers Gain :
DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 29, 2005--Richard Aland, as an investment banker, spent many years helping governmental entities of all types to find creative ways of managing their finances. Through his new company, Demand Pooling Global Services, ("DEPO"), it now looks like he will help state and local governments nationwide better utilize their constituents' tax dollars by enabling all sizes of governmental entities to pool together their demand and cooperatively buy and finance their high-ticket purchase requirements, while allowing vendors to take advantage of tremendous manufacturing efficiencies. DEPO is scheduled to launch its new platform in early September.
Aland's resume reads like A Who's Who of Wall Street and includes stops at Goldman Sachs, Salomon Brothers, Smith Barney, and a UBS/Deutsche Bank affiliate. Along the way he structured or advised on complex financings for hotels, arenas, stadiums, convention centers, airports and, among other transit agencies, the Dallas Area Rapid Transit Authority, as well as many public/private partnerships and a variety of major international transactions.
"State and local governmental entities all have faced budget shortfalls and still have to maintain basic services and pay for costly new homeland security-related services," said Aland. "They are not allowed to run deficits like the federal government, but have already largely exhausted their abilities to apply the traditional tools for addressing shortfalls -- raising taxes, curtailing services or cutting staffing. They need new tools and Demand Pooling's new platform will enable them to spend less on their capital asset purchases so they have more dollars available to maintain staffing and services and acquire their homeland security needs while saving taxpayer dollars," added Aland.
